Kwetu Story
KWETU Welfare was born from a simple but powerful truth — Kenyans are stronger together, especially far from home. As Kenyans settled and built lives in Zambia, the need for a structured, trustworthy community grew clear. Not just a group to call on in hard times, but a real organization — one that could protect its members, celebrate their milestones, support their families, and create opportunities for collective growth.
And so KWETU was founded. Built by Kenyans in Zambia, for Kenyans in Zambia.
From our earliest meetings to our growing membership today, every step has been driven by volunteers who believed in what this community could become. People who gave their time, their skills, and their commitment — not for recognition, but because they understood the value of belonging to something bigger than themselves.
Today, KWETU Welfare stands as a registered association with a clear purpose — to be the welfare home of every Kenyan in Zambia. We protect our members, we show up in difficult moments, we celebrate the good ones, and we grow together. This is our story. And it is still being written — by every member who joins, every contribution made, and every Kenyan who chooses community over going it alone.
